Sudden water losses require an immediate response. Containing the loss and extracting all standing water should happen within a couple of hours after the water damage occurs. Waiting means more areas of your home get soaked, you’re more likely to get mold, and the costs go up. Not only that, but a wet property losses much of it’s strength from a structural standpoint. That’s why it’s not uncommon to see floors give way or ceilings collapse, and in extreme cases even walls cave in. If you have flooding in your home, please call us now for emergency water cleanup & removal services that you can trust!

What happens if the moisture isn’t removed quickly?
The most immediate concern is for the the structural integrity of your property. Once wet, the structures supporting your home lose their strength. So our initial concern is that those areas could give way and fall on you. But the biggest concern when dealing with a wet home is that it breeds toxic black mold. And just how quickly that happens might surprise you. Mold actually resides in every home. Even healthy, dry homes have a small level of black mold spores in the environment. But when the home gets wet, it creates the right conditions for the mold spores to thrive and grow.
How long does it take mold to grow after water damage occurs?
Between 36-48 hours.
What are symptoms of exposure to toxic mold?
Below are just some of the symptoms that can occur should you become exposed to harmful levels of toxic black mold:
- Respiratory illness – coughing, wheezing, lung infections, bloody noses, bloody gums, sore throats
- Skin ailments – rashes, irritations, open sores, jaundice
- Vision problems – eye irritations, inflammation, blurry vision
- Tiredness – chronic fatigue, depression, nausea, diarrhea
- In extreme cases where a person has a deficient immune system death can occur
Wet Carpets & Water Damaged Hardwood Floors
Two things we get asked most about when it comes to water removal services is whether or not we can save carpet and wood flooring. The answer depends on the type of water loss and how long they’ve been wet. If it’s a clean water or grey water source, meaning it doesn’t present too much of a threat to cause contamination, and the loss occurred very recently, then the answer is we can usually save both surfaces. Carpet padding will need to be replaced, but the carpets themselves can usually be saved.
And when it comes to drying out wood floors, we use advanced drying systems call Injectidry to extract the moisture trapped in the wood and below the surface using large mats, hoses and vacuums. Strategically placed, these systems allows us to remove the right amount of moisture without over-drying the floors which can ruin them and ensure they most be replaced. Should you choose the wrong water extraction company, they may not have the right equipment to properly dry out your wood floors. If that’s the case, you’ll most certainly notice them begin to cup and warp in a couple of weeks and you’ll probably end up with black mold growing in the subfloor and eventually making its way to the surface.
Rapid Structural Drying Process
The most important aspect of any water mitigation service is the drying portion. Getting the standing water out is easy, but identifying the areas with elevated moisture and quickly removing that moisture without causing secondary water damage that is difficult. Even restoration companies that have been in business for years can make mistakes and leave too much moisture in the home which causes problem later.
Our technicians are certified as both water damage restoration providers as well as structural drying technicians, meaning they’ve studied and mastered the science of drying wet buildings. We use sophisticated equipment throughout the drying phase to measure our progress, adjust our methods, and ensure we’re getting all of the excess moisture out as quickly as possible. On average, it takes just over 3 days to properly dry out a wet structure but our technicians will keep you fully apprised of our progress so that you have some expectation for when we can remove all of our equipment.
Wet walls and ceilings
If you had an upstairs toilet that overflowed and sent water dripping through your ceilings and down the walls of the floor below, we consider that a class 3 water loss. These types of losses can take longer to dry out due to the amount of surface area affected. When it comes to ceilings and walls, or any area of your home for that matter, our hope is to dry the existing structure without having to tear areas out. Of course, that isn’t always possible. In some cases, if insulation is behind walls or the drywall in the ceiling is ruined, we will need to replace those areas. But we have special equipment that can get behind wet walls and water damaged ceilings rather non-intrusively so that your home doesn’t resemble a construction zone.
When it comes to water cleanup services, we know you want the job done as quickly as possible and for there to be as little disruption as possible. It’s why we do everything within our power to dry the existing structure and not have to tear out major areas of your home!
We Dry Out Commercial Buildings Too!
Very few companies have the capacity to provide water extraction services in large commercial buildings. When it comes to offices, down time means lost productivity and lose earnings. We understand that, and we understand that you most have the situation resolved as quickly as possible, and with as little disruption as possible. We have a warehouse full of water cleanup & drying systems and can put our resources to bear immediately upon arrival. We even work with specialists that can dry our and restore electronics so that whatever crucial systems you have that can be saved will be saved.
If you need commercial water mitigation services, we hope you’ll call us immediately so that we can help you get your business back up and running fast!
